There comes a time when one must leave...

There comes a time in a man's life when he knows God is calling him to leave the country of his birth and go to another...There also comes a time when a man knows the "government" is telling him that he has to leave the country. That's right, because we have not received our residence cards yet, our 90 days has expired, and so we were told that we had to leave the country. So, we did...for 15 minutes! By law a person is only allowed to stay in the country for 90 days without applying for residence. It is quite common for non-Polish individuals who choose not to apply for residence to simply leave the country every 90 days. We have applied, but we have not received our documents yet. Here was the problem...On the 21st of December Poland entered the Schengen Zone (google it for an explanation). What this meant for us was...We could go ahead and go to Slovakia (3 hrs. away) to get our passports stamped OR wait until after the 21st and have to drive to Ukraine (8 hrs. away). So after Rachel and I discussed how fond we were of "road trips" with our children we decided on Slovakia. Actually, it wasn't bad. We borrowed some team members van and Erin and Seba went with us. The drive was beautiful and the kids were able to eat at McDonald's and do some sledding. Below are some pictures from our day....The videos are when we were traveling on the road going through the mountains. We weren't sure we were going the right way until I asked a gentleman driving a horse-drawn sleigh and he said that we were correct. I wasn't convinced that he understood what we said in Polish but we kept going....and going, and going. I would like to say special thanks to the Queen of Narnia and Bigfoot for being so hospitable and eventually showing us where the Slovakian border was!!
